CHAIRMAN’S NOTE

Once again, I would like to express my warm gratitude to everyone for giving me the opportunity to serve our distinctive and vibrant Samaj.
I am also grateful to Capt (Retd) Gary Ghale - Editorial English/advisor, Advocate Raju Gurung , Lt(Retd)Tham Parsad  Gurung - Coordinator/Founder Chairman/Advisor, all the sponsors, writers, and everyone who have helped directly/indirectly  to produce the  3rd edition of our Daraudi Thames annual magazine.
Our Samaj is an independent, apolitical and non- religious social organisation. The Samaj is now in its 7th year since its inception with the aim of preserving our culture /tradition and to provide welfare and morale support to those who may unfortunately fall into financial and welfare difficulties. We have been celebrating our Lhosar festival with great zest every year and have also been enjoying other auspicious
occasions like wedding parties and chewers. However, due to various circumstances and time constraint due to the busy UK lifestyle, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and summer BBQ have been combined to be held simultaneously since last year.
In order to promote good will and to share mutual cooperation with other communities and various other organisations, we have been actively participating on a joint venture with Tamu Dhee UK in the  Nepali Mela since last year.  The Tamu Samaj UK , previously known as TDLB, has stopped organising the inter society culture dance competition since 2013 and we have not participated in it.
As we all live far away from our motherland  in a country which is highly diverse and shares true values of a multicultural society,  it is ever more important that we should always try to endeavour to maintain and preserve our rich culture and tradition to enable our upcoming younger generation to follow it and pass it on to posterity.
I would like to congratulate all our youths for their efforts and dedications in helping the Samaj to stand proudly where it is today – strong and cohesive.  A Samaj can only endure if everyone lends a helping hand without any grudge or complain.  After all it is our Samaj.  We must not let any small thorny issues divide us; but rather, we must nip it in the bud in the first instance that we come to know of it to preclude it magnifying. Thank you to each and every one of you for your passion, dedication, understanding and the excellent work you continue to contribute to our proud Samaj.
Finally, please accept my sincere best wishes for the upcoming Lhosar and the New Year. May it bring us peace, prosperity and give us strength to take our Samaj to new heights.
