Gurung (Tamu) Lhosar 2082 Celebrated with Unity and Pride by GzGSUK

The Gurung (Tamu) Losar 2082 was celebrated with dignity, cultural vibrancy, and a strong sense of togetherness by Gorkha Zilla Gurung Samaj UK on 26 December 2025 at Empire Hall, England.

As the year turns once again, Losar reminds the Gurung community

that it is that time of renewal—Naya Barsha, new blessings, reflection on the year gone by, and the promise of fresh beginnings. It is a moment to pause, review the journey of the past year, and step forward together with hope and unity. For Gurungs living far from their ancestral homeland, this celebration carries a deeper meaning, strengthening identity, belonging, and shared roots.

A Spiritually Rooted and Energetic Beginning

The programme formally commenced with pooja and prayers, setting a spiritual foundation for the celebrations. This was followed by a vibrant procession of participants dancing in line, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of traditional Nepali drums and joyful singing. The energetic display marked an uplifting and symbolic opening to the Losar celebrations, instantly filling the hall with festive spirit.

This ceremonial opening was followed by Gara Dasha Puja and blessings led by Lama Kaji Gurung, offering prayers for peace, prosperity, and well-being in the coming year.

The event was held under the able leadership of Chairman Mr Tek Man Gurung, whose guidance and commitment were central to the success of the celebration.
